1. Election Integrity Project of Nevada, LLC, et al. v State of Nevada

(Filed September 1, 2020, A-20-820510-C; Application denied December 11, 2020; Voluntarily dismissed January 12, 2021, A-20-820510-C)

Eighth Judicial District Court Clark County, Nevada: Election Integrity Project of Nevada, LLC, et al. v. State of Nevada, a petition for temporary and injunction relief, was filed on September 1, 2020, in the Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County by Plaintiff voting-monitoring organization and one Nevada voter to challenge the state’s plan to mail ballots to all eligible voters ahead of the 2020 General Election. On September 3, 2020, Plaintiffs filed an emergency request for a preliminary injunction. Then, on September 4, 2020, Plaintiffs filed a request for an emergency restraining order. The court treated Plaintiffs’ separate actions for injunctive relief as a single motion for a preliminary injunction. The case was assigned to the Hon. Judge Rob Bare, no political affiliation found.

Supreme Court of the State of Nevada: On September 25, 2020, Plaintiffs petitioned the Nevada Supreme Court for a Writ of Mandamus, docket number 81847, to prohibit Nevada counties from proceeding with the plan to mail ballots to all eligible voters.

Eighth Judicial District Court Clark County, Nevada: Judge Bare denied Plaintiffs’ request for a preliminary injunction on September 28, 2020, finding that Plaintiffs failed to demonstrate that they would be irreparably injured if the ballot-mailing legislation was implemented.

Supreme Court of the State of Nevada: Plaintiffs’ Writ of Mandamus was denied by the court on October 7, 2020.

Eighth Judicial District Court Clark County, Nevada: On November 16, 2020, Plaintiffs filed an emergency request for a permanent injunction to stop the certification of the results of the November 3, 2020, General Election, alleging extensive fraud. The application was changed to a preliminary injunction at the hearing. The Hon. Judge Gloria Sturman, no political affiliation founddenied the requested injunction on December 11, 2020. Plaintiffs agreed to dismiss the entire suit on January 12, 2021.

Note: Although this lawsuit was filed before the election, it is included here because of the injunction filed post-election alleging fraud and seeking to stop the certification of election results.

Outcome: The Plaintiffs lost.

 

2. Donald Trump for President, Inc., et al. v. Joseph P. Gloria, Registrar of Voters for Clark County, Nevada, et al.

(Filed November 3, 2020, A-20-824153-C; Voluntarily dismissed November 9, 2020, A-20-824153-C)

Nevada Eighth Judicial District Court: Trump for President, Inc., et al. v. Joseph P. Gloria, Registrar of Voters for Clark County, Nevada, et al. was filed on November 3, 2020, in the Eighth Judicial District Court for Clark County. Donald Trump for President, Inc., and the Nevada Republican Party were seeking a court order to allow certain polling places in Clark County to remain open an extra hour because of problems with voting machines during the November 3, 2020, General Election. The Hon. Joe Hardy, a Republican appointee, granted Plaintiffs’ request the same day. On November 9, 2020, Plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed this matter without prejudice.

Issues: Polling place hours extended due to delay in opening

Outcome: The Plaintiffs won – the request for certain polling places to remain open for an extra hour on election day was granted.

 

3. Jill Stokke, et al. v. Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, et al.

(Filed November 5, 2020, 2:20-cv-02046; Voluntarily dismissed November 24, 2020, 2:20-cv-02046)

US District Court: Jill Stokke, et al. v. Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, et al. was filed on November 5, 2020, in US District Court, District of Nevada, claiming irregularities with absentee ballot signature verification during the November 3, 2020, General Election. Plaintiffs filed a Motion for Temporary Restraining Order to halt the use of signature verification software in Clark County. On November 6, 2020, the Hon. Andrew P. Gordon, a Democratic appointee, denied Plaintiffs’ motion. On November 24, 2020, Plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed this matter without prejudice.

Issues: Vote-by-mail (improper signature verification)

Outcome: The Plaintiffs lost.

 

4. April Becker v. Joseph P. Gloria, Registrar of Voters for Clark County, Nevada, et al.

(Filed November 16, 2020, A-20-824878-W; Dismissed December 2, 2020, A-20-824878-W)

Eighth Judicial District Court: April Becker v. Joseph P. Gloria, Registrar of Voters for Clark County, Nevada, et al. was filed by April Becker, the Republican candidate for the Nevada Senate, on November 16, 2020, in the Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County, seeking a re-vote of the November 3, 2020, General Election in Clark County due to alleged issues with absentee ballot witness verification. On December 2, 2020, the Hon. Joe Hardy, a Republican appointee, dismissed Plaintiff’s petition without prejudice for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.

5. Jim Marchant v. Joseph P. Gloria, Registrar of Voters for Clark County, Nevada, et al.

Eighth Judicial District Court: Jim Marchant v. Joseph P. Gloria, Registrar of Voters for Clark County, Nevada, et al. was filed by Jim Marchant, a Republican candidate for the US House of Representatives (NV-4) who lost, on November 16, 2020, in the Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County, seeking a re-vote of the November 3, 2020, General Election in Clark County due to alleged issues with absentee ballot witness verification. On November 23, 2020, the Hon. Gloria Sturman, a Democrat, dismissed Plaintiff’s petition without prejudice for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.

6. Jessie Law, et al. v. Judith Whitmer, et al.

(Filed November 17, 2020, 20 OC 00163 1B; Dismissed with prejudice December 4, 2020, 20 OC 00163 1B; Affirmed December 8, 2020, 82178)

First Judicial District Court: Jessie Law, et al. v. Judith Whitmer, et al. was filed on November 17, 2020, in the First Judicial District Court, Carson City, contesting the submission of Democratic Party electors and claiming fraud in the November 3, 2020, General Election. Plaintiffs sought to have Trump declared winner and have the elections of the Democratic Electors voided. On December 4, 2020, the Hon. James T. Russell, a Democratic appointee, decided against Plaintiffs due to both 1) issue preclusion and 2) the failure by Plaintiffs to present sufficient evidence to support their claims. The complaint was dismissed with prejudice.

Nevada Supreme Court: On December 4, 2020, Plaintiffs filed an appeal of Judge Russell’s decision in the Nevada Supreme Court. The Supreme Court judges who decided this appeal earned their seats through nonpartisan elections. On December 8, 2020, the court affirmed Judge Russell’s decision of December 4, 2020.

Issues: Vote-by-mail (improper signature verification, illegal ballots added to results); Voting machines (malfunction)

Outcome: The Plaintiffs lost.

 

7. Daniel Rodimer v. Joseph P. Gloria, Registrar of Voters for Clark County, Nevada, et al.

(Filed November 19, 2020, A-20-825130-W; Dismissed November 25, 2020, A-20-825130-W)

Eighth Judicial District Court: Daniel Rodimer v. Joseph P. Gloria, Registrar of Voters for Clark County, Nevada, et al. was filed on November 19, 2020, in the Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County. Rodimer, a Republican US House of Representatives (NV-3) candidate who lost in the November 3, 2020, General Election, claimed that signatures on mail-in ballots in Clark County were improperly verified. Plaintiff sought to invalidate all votes that were verified electronically and to have a new election in Clark County. On November 25, 2020, the Hon. Trevor Atkin, a Democratic appointee, denied Plaintiff’s Petition for Writ of Mandamus and Injunctive Relief and dismissed the case.

Outcome: The Plaintiff lost.

 

8. Cherlyn Arrington v. Joseph P. Gloria, et al.

(Filed November 19, 2020, A-20-825149-W; Dismissed December 22, 2020, A-20-825149-W)

Eighth Judicial District Court Clark County, Nevada: Cherlyn Arrington v. Joseph P. Gloria, et al. was filed on November 19, 2020, in the Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County, by an unsuccessful Republican candidate for the Nevada State Assembly who alleged fraud and voter irregularities in the 2020 election. Petitioner sought a court order for either a re-vote or an order to compel Clark County Commissioners to run a new election due to allegedly faulty voting machines in the November 3, 2020, General Election. The case was assigned to Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez (political party not found). The judge said the suit, an election contest in a legislative race, should be filed in the state legislature. The court dismissed the suit on December 22, 2020.

Petitioner submitted her complaint with the state legislature; it was dismissed by the legislature on May 23, 2021.

Outcome: The Petitioner lost.
