As of Oct. 12, 2022, 21 states and D.C. allow voter registration on Election Day. Montana repealed same-day registration in 2021 but the repeal was halted by a Sep. 2022 court order, so the state is still listed as having same-day registration. North Carolina has same-day registration during early voting only. North Dakota does not have voter registration.
